Purple Harvest

It's harvest time. Fresh picked mini eggplants on a rustic wood box. Late summer over and a hint of autumn in the air. A faithful labor of love is rewarded. The thing every gardener looks forward to.  When a friend gifted some vegetables from her own garden, I placed several dwarf eggplants with stems on the antique wood crate. I then painted the eggplants from life with dark purple hues, showing highlights that reflect light, giving them a glossy appearance. The warm orange of the wood surface contrasts with the rich blue violet of the eggplants, enhancing their visual texture and depth.
