Remember and Inspire.

       With all the recent upheaval, my attention has necessarily shifted outside the studio somewhat. Still, I’m continuing to create. Now that I’m settling into some new routines, it’s getting easier to get into the studio to work. Here’s what’s on the easel  right now.

       I’ve been working very small with the birth month flowers I started just a couple of weeks ago. To date there are six with a couple more partially begun. These will eventually be made into small birthday/all occasion cards and made available on my website, that is when I find just the right fulfillment platform.

       Also started are two small landscape paintings and a commissioned piece featuring an antique kitchen gadget.

       I am creating some larger works as well, all with birds playing a major role of course. “Hummer” 18”x24”, in progress, was inspired by a challenge put forth by The Artist’s Society Of Dearborn. The challenge for March is ‘Motion’ and each artist in the group is invited to interpret the idea of motion according to their individual style and medium. I imagine that when we finally get the all clear to meet together again, there will be quite a variety of interpretations amongst the painters, photographers, and sculptors.  Mine, of course, features a bird. When we were first presented with the challenge, I immediately knew what I would be painting. It had to be a hummingbird with wings ablur. It took me awhile to find just the right photo references where I wouldn’t have to pay royalties. But find them I did and so what you see here is the background only. I will be working on this in the next few days, so I’ll share it with the rest of the world after my loyal subscribers get first look at the finished painting.
